Your First Month with Metche: What to Expect
A practical week-by-week guide to the taste, everyday use, and proper storage of honey.
Week One: Getting Used to the Taste
Your first spoonful of raw honey may surprise you. The taste is not uniformly sweet like many industrial blends: floral notes come first, followed by a deeper, warm aroma, while the finish depends on the harvest and the plants around Kalanjevo. Read why raw honey is thicker and richer, and give your palate time to recognise the difference. During the first week, try it on its own, on bread, and in warm tea. That is the easiest way to discover how you enjoy it most.
Week Two: The Habit Takes Hold
You do not need a strict schedule in the second week. It is enough to connect honey with a habit you already have: a spoonful in your morning tea, a thin layer on bread and butter, or a little honey with yoghurt. Choose a jar from our raw honey range according to the taste you prefer, and keep it somewhere you will notice easily. When honey becomes part of a familiar meal, the habit forms naturally and does not depend on reminders.
The habit matters more than the amount.
Weeks Three and Four: What Customers Tell Us
By the third or fourth week, you will already know which amount and way of using honey suit you. Some customers tell us that they have found it easier to replace refined sugar in their tea or breakfast and that they prefer the gentler sweetness. Others notice the biggest difference in the taste and how satisfied they feel after a meal. These are personal experiences, not a promise that everyone will feel the same way. The best sign that the habit suits you is that it fits easily into your day and that you enjoy it without overdoing it.
How to Store the Jar
Keep the jar tightly closed in a dry, dark place at room temperature. Refrigeration is not necessary and may only speed up crystallisation. If the honey becomes cloudy or crystallises, that does not mean it has spoiled; crystallisation is natural in raw honey. To soften it again, place the closed jar in a bowl of warm, but not boiling, water and wait a few minutes. Do not use a microwave or heat it directly, because strong heat changes the aroma, texture, and some of its natural properties.
